Warm greetings to you all. The month of May is a holiday season for children and its time to enjoy a vacation with family. I wish every member and their family, a happy vacation. It gives me an immense pleasure to share the activities held by our Branch for the benefit of our members and students during the month of April 2010.
SEBI Chairman's Special Address on 'Capital Market & Investor Protection'
We had organized a Joint Meeting with the Coimbatore Chapters of ICSI, ICWAI along with CDCPC, wherein the Chairman of SEBI, Mr. C B Bhave, addressed our members and investors at large on the topic of 'Capital Markets and Investor Protection'. The meeting was much interactive and the Chairman of SEBI, addressed the queries of the delegates. I thank Mr. C B Bhave for his august presence at Coimbatore and addressing the investors and professionals.
Vivegam Seminar on 'Liabilities Management'
Under the Vivegam Seminar Series, we had organized a seminar on 'Liabilities Management'. Mr. N S Rao and CA. Sridhar Ramachandran from Mumbai addressed & shared their experience with our members. Mr. D. Nagaraja Naidu, Asst. General Manager of Andhra Bank was the chief guest of the seminar. The seminar broadly covered the role of Chartered Accountants in the consultancy services offered to the Corporate Clientele, with respect to 'Liabilities Management', which was well attended with active participation of the members.
Study Circle Meetings
The study circle meeting addressed by Mr. T R Vijay Anand on 'Professional Development through Websites & Social Media' was more informative to the members with particular reference to usage of Information Technology for the professional development. CA. N G Sreenivasa Rao, addressed our members on 'Deemed Dividend under Income Tax Act, 1961' in study circle meeting and well attended by our members. I thank both the speakers for sharing their rich experience in the study circle meetings.
Information Technology Training for Members
In line with the technological developments and to train our members on information technology, we had organized 12 hours of IT Training to our members at our Institute. Our members most actively participated in the training and I hope the training would have added value to the IT skills of our members, to equip them for the latest changes in IT.
Regional Residential CPE Seminar in May 2010 – Organized by SIRC of ICAI
Regional Residential CPE Seminar is organized by SIRC of ICAI and hosted by Coimbatore Branch of SIRC of ICAI at Kolli Hills, Namakkal during May 28 – 30, 2010. The details of the program are given in this newsletter. At this juncture, I would like to share some facts about the Kolli Hills. It is a small mountain range located in central Tamil Nadu in Namakkal. The mountains are about 1000 to 1300 mtr. in height and cover an area of approximately 280 km. The Kolli Hills has 70 hair pin bends to reach the top of the hills. The Kolli Hills are part of the Eastern Ghats, which is a mountain range that runs mostly parallel to the east coast of South India. The mountains are relatively untouched by commercial tourism and still retain their natural beauty. I hope, this will be a memorable place to visit and enrich our knowledge with the topics to be covered in the First Residential Course of our Branch for the year 2010. I request the members to register at the earliest as the accommodation and seats are limited.
Approach to CPT Exam
A special program on 'How to Approach to CPT Exam' was organized by SICASA of our Coimbatore Branch, wherein more than 250 students along with their parents attended the program. SIRC Member, CA. S. Murali and CA. Ragunathan, addressed the students. In addition to that, students also shared their approach to CPT Exam.
Member's Directory
Members of our Branch have shown remarkable interest in updating their details with photograph. The details received by the Branch are being compiled. I request those members who have not submitted their particulars, to submit it at the earliest to complete the process of updating the Directory. With a view to provide much more convenience in an e-governance way, provision is made to upload the details electronically by members themselves through our branch website www.coimbatoreicai.org, which will be available from the second week of May 2010. I request the members to use this facility to update their details at the earliest. Members who wish to give in hard copy shall also submit it to our Branch.
On behalf of the managing committee of the Coimbatore Branch, I wish our students to present well in the May 2010 examinations and succeed with flying colors. I request the members to visit our Branch portal for latest updates on the programs and events of our Branch and to participate in large numbers, in the days to come.
